Other Services
There are many other services available to seniors including:
- Transportation – To transport senior citizens to and from community resources.
- Assisted Transportation – To accompany and personally assist an older person in obtaining a service of utilizing a community resource. Service is provided to individuals who must be assisted throughout the entire process of acquiring a needed service.
- Housekeeping – To provide help with home management (i.e. housecleaning, laundry, etc.)
- Business mail, letter writing – To read, write interpret, and/or translate business and personal correspondence for older persons.
- Senior Advocacy – To provide a link between older persons and necessary community resources.
- Tax preparation - To provide tax preparation to older persons.
- Material aid – To provide support in the form of goods or food products.
- Insurance/Benefits counseling – Provide older persons with information about insurance and benefits.
- Blood Pressure/Blood Sugar Screening Clinics – To provide health care to older persons by conducting tests such as blood pressure, hearing, vision, etc.
- Assistance with fuel/energy assistance – Provide assistance with Low Income Fuel application
- Instruction and Training – To formally or informally present information geared to the interests and concerns of older persons on a planned basis.
- Preventative health (exercise classes, treadmill, etc.) – To provide health care to older persons, which includes on-going preventicare exercise programs.
- Older Americans Act Program (Title IIIE) Family Caregiver Support
- Caregiver Information & Assistance – Provide on an individual basis, information to caregivers about opportunities and services available; assess the problems and capacities of the individuals; links the individuals to the opportunities and services available; and to the maximum extent practicable ensure that the individuals receive the services needed, and are aware of the opportunities available, by establishing adequate follow-up procedures.
- Caregiver counseling/support groups – Provision of advice, guidance and instruction about options and methods for providing support to caregivers in an individual or group setting.
- Caregiver Training – Provision of training for caregivers to assist them in the performance of in-home services for dependent seniors
- In-Home Respite – Temporary, substitute supports or living arrangements delivered in the home to provide relief or rest for caregivers.

Aging and Family Services runs many programs with various rules for eligibility. You aren’t expected to know which program you need or for which you qualify!
